Week 33, 2026

1 published brief this week. This week was not mailed as a newsletter.

  • Finance Cmte passes changes to the 2026 adopted budget, increasing General Fund appropriations by $95 million.

The purpose of the annual mid-year supplemental budget is to make necessary adjustments to the current year’s budget due to grant acceptances or costs that, per state law, "could not reasonably have been foreseen." By reappropriating unspent funds in several departments’ budgets for new, discretionary policy priorities, CB 121253 goes beyond routine changes to the adopted budget. (Update: adopted in City Council 9 to 0 on Aug. 11, 2026 – but read just for kicks!)
